Yes, we’ve gotta talk !

It is common knowledge that in coastal climes, the morning fog burns off as the sun emerges. And so it is here, the early summer’s heat has started to burn the fog off of the new administration of the City of Scottsdale. What is starting to emerge is a Mayor whose vision of preserving that which is special about our community with new initiatives as circumstance demand is finally finding its footing.

Last night, Mayor Borowsky held the first of what will be many “Town Hall” meetings to talk with folks in our city, a chance to hear and be heard, an opportunity to help build a consensus to help drive our community forward, positively. We encourage everyone who has an interest in the welfare of our community to engage and join these meetings. They are informative and will give you a chance to have your voice clearly heard. We own our government and we must participate if we want it to properly represent us. The Mayor and her cohort in governing are providing leadership to our city deserve our support in achieving her goals to strengthen and grow our community while preserving that which is special about Scottsdale.

We have not forgotten that we are actually a one trick pony focused on that little stretch of treacherous street on 68th Between Camelback and Indian School Roads. It is what we are about. While we have awakened to our local politics, it has become abundantly clear that the challenges confronting the ongoing process of getting the 68th Street Sidewalk project completed was unusual but, an early warning to all citizens to stay vigilant and not to lose focus to ensure completion of prior commitments made by our city. We have attached copies from the proposed budget that show both the sidewalk project and attendant drainage project under 68th Street. The target date mentioned for completion of the drainage portion is summer 2026. That will be part of our countdown after the final budget vote on June 10th. So, we need to keep talking.

BUILD A SIDEWALK, SAVE A LIFE!
