Connecting the dots………………….

We were asked yesterday “How did you guys get here?” Simple question, complex answer. The story is well known as to how we experienced this treacherous little stretch of road, how we organized a petition , what is not spoken of is the process of approaching our city council and the mayor’s office to raise awareness and get them to champion our cause to get it into the process leading to its inclusion in this weeks budget . The work itself was all about putting one foot in front of the other, what is not boring is the strong reception and strong support we received for a common sense project that makes complete sense.

We would not be here today were it not for the steady hand and strong steadfast support of Solange Whitehead. She helped guide us past our ignorance of process, she took the time to understand the project and the reason it had to get done, and she never wavered in her dedication to understanding the strategic importance to the city of solving a problem that needed solving that nobody was paying attention to.

We have come to appreciate that people make a difference, that extraordinary people make an extraordinary impact, Solange is that person. Her impact is felt today in her unselfish dedication to our city, her leadership and vision will be appreciated for generations notwithstanding her quiet going about getting things done and her listening., yes, listening. So, Thank you Solange.
