We do not yet know what the outcome of the working sessions on the City Budget have produced. What we do know is that three of our seven City Councilors have not yet agreed to meet with us to discuss the challenges to life and limb presented by that little stretch of road along 68th Street between Camelback and Indian School Roads. We have decided not to name names yet…. we want to give them a chance to meet and learn and maybe walk this treacherous path together, so that they can support it and unify our council under the banner of Common Sense. We are not playing politics, we are trying to prvent a preventable tragedy that is sure to come without this project being completed. We are trying to understand their reluctance to meet, what are they fearful of? Are they trying to deny knowledge of the crisis in the area or their duty to “Do The Right Thing” for all the citizens of our city?
Is this petty buffoonery or politics? It matters not, we must expect more from our elected leaders. Saying that it is just politics is not good enough. They can and must do better and our expectations need to be higher, we should not allow their personal ambition interfere with our need for them to do the right thing. Approve , fund and complete the road improvements and sidewalk along 68th Street, that is the least that they should do! So, meet with us, we hope that you will schedule that appointment now!
