Courage, Leadership and Trust !

COURAGE, that magical elixir that enables human’s to do extraordinary deeds in the face of grave danger, it is shocking to talk of that quality in the face of the type of decision needed to be made by a City Councilor presented with doing the wrong or right thing. However making the choice to buck against bad ideas like voting to kill the 68th Street Sidewalk Project may be just that instant. it means possibly breaking with colleagues and bad ideas that have festered invisibly in the background, breaking with the consensus of bad ideas and actually doing the right thing for our City, our community. Now is the time we call on our City Councilors to evidence the courage we are sure they believe they have. Show us your courage, vote to make sure this 68th Street Project gets done, NOW!

We cannot just talk of courage without talking about LEADERSHIP. That quality that lets a human stand tall and lead from in front, to pave the way towards solving the problems visible every day in our changing world. Acting with integrity to inspire everyone in our City to stand tall, proud to be part of a City whose reputation is evidence enough of its greatness. Yes, it means setting aside one’s ambition and ego in favor of what the greater community needs. That is why we have elected these leaders, to do just that, and now we have to stand by and observe, will they rise to the occasion, will they rise to greatness and lead our city to a bright future with sidewalks available so that all can walk safely and enjoy what Scottsdale have to offer? Are those our leaders , or will we wallow in self distructive politicking for no good reason other then to massage the vacuous ego of ambition? It is about the future , not the past that we look to, but to finish what was already started, the 68th Street Sidewalk Project. Are these the kind of leaders we elected?

And finally TRUST, do the members of our council have the integrity to demonstrate the courage and leadership we expect of them, do they have the qualities that will allow us to trust them to “DO THE RIGHT THING”? They are headed to a working session to review the budget and make edits for consideration on May 20th. We are counting on them to leave the 68th Street Project in the budget and we will watch to make sure that it stays.exactly where it belongs, in the budget, above the line.

We wish our City Councilors and our Mayor good wishes as they embark on this detailed review and hope that they remember, we are all counting on them to “Do the right thing!”
