To take on the duties and responsibilities of elected office is to don the mantle of a servant. It is a commitment to do the peoples work. To be humble and sensitive to the needs of the citizens and to lead with the delicate touch as the divergent needs of the broader community are considered.
The Project to build sidewalk and redo the roadway and to build the needed drainage are an example of the carefully considered work the council should approve. We trust that the Council will do just that. Needless to say in reviewing the budget we are seeing matters whose purpose is unclear and we will talk about them further as we get clarity.
It is troubling to have to defend a project that has broad support of citizens and staff and some council members, so we are asking those who have not seen the area under consideration, to go there, see it, write your City Councilors and the Mayor, let them hear of this urgent need. Let us ask that they visit the site so that they can vote with knowledge and DO THE RIGHT THING!
