Walk the walk, safely !

While we never encourage dangerous or unsafe activity, we suggest that you may find it interesting to go and take a look at the little stretch of road between Camelback Road and Indian School Road in Scottsdale Arizona. What you will see whether you approach from the north or the south, is a highly trafficked road with cars speeding in both directions. You will see painted cycle lanes and you will see uneven dirt on the side of that, mostly it is overgrown with plant material. As you look at this reality, imagine yourself trying to walk from north to south or south to north, then try to understand how you would have such a walk. The safest way is to walk in the street with cars zipping by, close to you at high speed. Now try to do that same exercise with your eyes closed. Terror, panic may be the best feeling you will experience It is deadly, just waiting for an accident. Your life now dependent on the hhope that the driver is not drunk, talking on the phone, looking at the scenery, just simply distracted.

It is the remediation of this problem that we are fighting for, trying to ensure that the city leadership does not forgo its duty to protect all citizens, to make sure that this little stretch is safe for all modalities of transportation, cars, bikes, pedestrians and disabled citizens. That all the amenities Scottsdale has to offer are eaisily available.

We need to see the City Council take the leadership role we elected them for. We are asking the City Council to approve the capital budget to complete this development NOW !!!
